AEP's First Product — A Modular Dog Harness, In Development
The Animal Comes First. The Equipment Comes Second.
Every decision starts with what's best for the animal wearing it — comfort, natural movement, and as little as possible to catch on — and the mounting system gets built around that. Most equipment mounts do it backwards: start from the device, adapt the animal to fit it.

The Problem
Optimised to attach a lead, not carry equipment
Everyday harnesses are built around one job — clip on a lead — so manufacturers optimise for low weight, minimal material, and low cost. Nobody's checking whether anything mounted to one stays put: whether it rolls, bounces, twists, or works its way round the body mid-walk. A camera makes that failure obvious, because you can see it in the footage. A light or a tracker fails the same way, just less visibly.

Camera today, GPS tomorrow, a light for night walks next — each usually means buying and fitting an entirely separate harness.
The System
One Band. One Rail. Any Payload.
The harness separates into three layers — each solving one job, so the whole system doesn't have to compromise on any of them.
The Band
PERFORATED NEOPRENE · SIZED TO THE ANIMAL — several times wider than a typical strap, so load spreads across the chest instead of concentrating on one line. A front yoke stops it sliding backward as the animal moves, without anything cinched tight against the throat.
The Rail
SEWN-IN · STANDARD ACTION-CAMERA INTERFACE — backed by a rigid stiffener plate, so the rail itself can't flex or twist under a mounted camera. That's one half of what stops a shot drifting off the horizon; the other half is the band itself — wide enough, and held forward by the yoke, that the whole mount stops rocking as the animal moves. Compatible with the same mount standard already used across action-camera gear — nothing proprietary to get locked into.
The Payload
YOUR OWN KIT · STANDARD FITTING — camera, light, tracker. Anything with a standard action-camera fitting mounts straight to the rail. One band fitted once; what it carries changes with the day. The band ships on its own — you mount kit you already own.
Welfare First
Built With Fewer Places To Catch
A wide single band with one closure has far fewer catch points than a typical multi-strap harness — no loose buckle ends, no D-rings, no extra webbing hanging free to snag on a fence, a branch, or undergrowth mid-run. Fewer places to catch in the first place.

Origin
Built On a Working Smallholding, Not a Lab Bench
AEP started from a broader question than any one product: how do you let animals carry equipment without the equipment compromising them. The dog harness is the first real answer to that — being developed and tested on a real off-grid plot in Portugal, prototypes fitted, walked, and refined against real animals doing real things, not a mannequin on a workbench.

Why This Approach
Built for the Hardest Payload, So It Carries the Rest
A camera is the most demanding thing an animal can carry: it has to stay level, stay put, and stay pointed the same way for the whole walk, or the footage is useless. Build for that and a light, a tracker or a sensor is comfortably within it. And the instinct that welfare-first design costs you performance turns out to be backwards — the same wide band that makes it comfortable to wear all day is what stops the mount rolling and twisting. Building for the animal first is what makes it carry anything well.
